Have you seen Pretty Woman with Julia Roberts? (If you haven't, you need to go Netflix it!)
There's a classic scene with Julia Roberts, where she walks into a high-end store, points to an outfit, and says, "You got my stuff. How much is this?"
The saleswoman replies, "I don't think this would fit you."
Julia Roberts: "Well, I didn't ask if it would fit. I asked how much it was."
Bitchy shop lady turns to her even bitchier cohort and asks, "How much is this Marie?"
Marie: "It's very expensive."
"It's very expensive," the other Queen B echoes.
Julia: "Look I've got money to spend in here."
Queen B: " I don't think we have anything for you. You're obviously in the wrong place. Please leave."
Julia Roberts leaves, takes her money, and shops elsewhere. She comes back later to the store dressed to the nines and swaddled in shopping bags. After confirming the Queen Bs work on commission, she says, "Big Mistake. Big. Huge."
It's a classic scene, and I know none of my heart-centered, passion-driven people would ever dream of approaching potential clients or selling this way.
Right?!
And, yet, I see what I call the 'Pretty Woman Approach' to sales happen all.the.time, unintentionally of course. It's a "big mistake" that costs us sales and keeps us from booking clients.
That's why I did this livestream to break this "big mistake" down and talk about why we make it, how it disempowers potential clients, and how to course-correct so you can not only sell more but do in a heart-centered way that's all about service.
Join me in the replay below so you don't make this "big mistake"!
