I’ve had “Watch me dance, dance the night away” in my head for three days.
I only *just* saw the movie last night, but we danced the night away on our bikes in a recent spin class to the song and the rest of the Barbie soundtrack, and it’s wormed its way into my and apparently most of the world’s brain - just like the marketing campaign of the Barbie movie.
I know I’m gonna get some Barbie hate for admitting this, but I was never a Barbie girl growing up. I didn’t get it. Or maybe I was just busy running my kid business ventures and putting on plays
So, naturally, when the movie was first announced, I didn’t give it much thought. If anything, I might have eye-rolled and been a little judgey. For those of you who have seen it, I was more Sasha than her mom, Gloria.
Now? Well, hubs and I managed to get tickets to one of six, booked-out showings yesterday and have been discussing it ever since.
Talk about the power of brilliant marketing, strategic storytelling, and leveraging art to share a message.
Whether you’re silently wondering wtf the fuss is all about or got dressed up in head-to-toe vintage pink Barbie attire to watch opening night, there’s an epic case study and masterclass for every entrepreneur in the film’s marketing, storytelling, and brand messaging.
That’s why I went live to think pink and talk Barbie: the branding and marketing behind a $162 million dollar opening weekend.
I’m diving into:
the truth about sales I learned during my acting days, and how Barbie schooled us in the art of having people say “Take my money!” before ever watching a single scene (hint: this is what got me in a theater in the middle of a work day so I could snag a seat).
the messaging update Barbie nailed and why this is essential for any business that wants to stay relevant, and why I think the film is genius for the brand’s longevity.
key lessons you can steal from Barbie’s strategic storytelling to become the go-to business everyone is talking about.
the essential takeaway for every business owner about what’s behind this movie’s success and how you can apply this for your own stand out and show-stopping results.
Wishing you your version of success!
