Ever wonder what is and isn’t “normal” in a coaching relationship?
Maybe you’re currently working with a coach and worry about how you’re showing up on calls...are you doing it “right”? Are you a “difficult client”?
Maybe you’re ready to invest in coaching but don’t know what to expect...what do other people talk about in their sessions? How are other people on coaching calls? How should you prepare and show up?
Or maybe you’ve just had a particularly challenging session or are starting to feel like you’re a broken record…are you the only one who ever feels frustrated or triggered? Why do you keep coming back to the same topic?
These are just a few of the questions I’ve been getting recently, which is exactly why I went live to shed a light on what “normal” looks like in a coaching relationship and container.
After over six years of coaching calls, over five years of holding space for clients in a paid capacity as a business owner, and working with my own coach experiencing the client side for most of this time, I’ve been on thousands (and thousands) of coaching sessions.
I highlighted a common way I see high-achieving clients struggle when leaning in for support, talked about what’s “normal” during the coaching process, and shared some insights on how to get the most from your coaching investments and help your coach to help you get the results you want.
And, since this question has also come up more than once, I also spoke transparently about why I personally still invest in high-level 1:1 coaching support as a successful, fulfilled, multi-six-figure business owner who claims to have a “pinch me” business and life, what kinds of topics I ask for support around, and my truth about what’s “normal” on the client side after being coached for years.
Wishing you your version of success!
XO, Kim
