When I quit acting, it wasn’t because I didn’t love acting anymore.
One day, I picked up audition material and just didn’t want to do the work.
I was annoyed. I didn’t want to memorize lines or develop my character for a role I might never get paid for.
I’d stopped loving the process and business of what it meant to be an actress who got paid.
I knew, if I didn’t want to become jaded or end up hating a career I loved, it was time to move on.
Because the process IS the experience - it IS the game - and it ends up making up your day-to-day and your life.
The process is also required to get those shiny results. And, how you show up and experience the process is often how you experience the result.
If you don’t like the process (most of the time), you’re setting yourself up for a very challenging journey and a pretty miserable experience…you’re also likely putting pressure and unrealistic expectations on the end result.
That’s how I knew it was time to move on. Not because I didn’t love acting, being on set, or the film industry, but I stopped liking and wanting to show up for the work that made up the day-to-day and all of that possible.
This is something I always come back to as a coach and business owner now.
I know the record-breaking income months, the recurring multi-five-figure cash months, the clients I adore serving, are the results of liking and showing up for the process.
So often, we're scrolling for growth hacks, or obsessing over how to make $10k or $100k months, and the easiest "hack" I've found is finding a way to like and enjoy being in the process.
