For the last two years, I’ve been watching a building go up across the street from my desk window.
From this vantage point, I’m able to see things you can’t while walking by on the street, like how long they spent excavating the debris from the old building, clearing out space, and laying down a foundation.
I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say this process took over a year.
What’s been fascinating is to see how fast the rest of the structure went up AFTER the foundation was set. If you didn’t know better, you’d think this impressive skyscraper popped up overnight.
Um, y’all, building, growing, and scaling a business, an EMPIRE, is no different.
First, you gotta take the time to clear out the old debris and lay a solid foundation.
It’s that behind-the-scenes, inner work no one else can see walking by that’s the most important, often takes the longest, and is crucial if we want to lay down a solid business foundation.
I know, it’s easy when you’re in the trenches digging out the crap to feel like you’re so far away, but know it’s *because* you’re willing to build that foundation that your business growth will soar, seem effortless, and stand the test of time.
It’s the people who take the time and care to lay a solid foundation one brick at a time, even when there’s no ‘evidence’ of growth from the outside looking in that have a solid enough footing to stick around...and then go on to have what other people perceive as ‘overnight’ success.
These same people know that ‘overnight’ success is gonna last because it’s built on top of solid ground.
Then, on top of our foundation, there are four pillars that allow the rest of the building to grow and scale: mindset, marketing, service, and sales.
Take a look at any business empire and you’ll see these four pillars supporting their success.
This also means the converse is true when your business is feeling rocky, you can bet one of these pillars isn’t holding you up or they’ve been built on a weak foundation.
Taking the time to make sure your business is supported by a foundation and strong pillars means you can scale that baby to new skyscraping heights.
Wishing you your version of success!
