Let’s talk money...specifically creating *your* version of financial success.
You know I’m all about making more money doing what you love...on your terms.
But, what do you do when you start making those cash deposits on repeat? What do you do with that money in the bank?
There’s a difference between being rich and being wealthy…and knowing the difference, and what combination of the two makes up *your* version of financial success makes all the difference.
I love how Morgan Housel differentiates this in The Psychology of Money, and this mirrors my view:
Being rich is the outward expression of money; it’s what you spend your money on.
It’s the clothes, the shoes, the car. It’s the spending that makes you *appear* to have money.
Being wealthy is the money people don’t see; it’s the money you keep and what you do with it. The mafia-style hidden spot you stash cash in, the savings, the investments.
Building wealth is all about using your money to make you more money and buy you options.
Rich is spending money now; wealth is having money later.
Rich and wealthy is what do you do with your money when you start making those cash deposits on repeat.
Just like I believe you have your own version of business success, I believe you have your own version of financial success.
There isn’t a ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ combination of rich and wealthy, but there is a right or wrong for you. And, ya gotta understand the difference to be able to get clear on a split that works for you so you can *consciously* and *intentionally* make decisions that serve you and your business.
Your version of financial success is the unique combination of rich and wealthy that serves you, your business, makes you feel empowered, gives you choice, and generally FEELS good and allows you to enjoy the now while feeling freedom and security in the future.
For example, if you make those $10k months everyone talks about, it’s what you do with that cash that comes in that is going to impact your version of financial success and freedom.
Are you spending your Benjamins on upgrading your lifestyle? Investing your money back into your business? Saving some scrilla for a down payment on an investment property?
What’s the combination of rich and wealthy that serves you now and later, brings you joy, and gives you the freedom of choice money buys?
This isn’t a one-size-fits all, blueprinted kinda thing with one ‘right’ answer. But, like most important things in life, it’s pretty darn helpful to create awareness around so you can easily make *conscious* and *intentional* decisions that set you up to live into your version of financial success.
Personally, I love money in all the ways and prefer a combination of both rich now and wealthy later. That happy medium where you’re treating yourself and living a lifestyle that allows you to enjoy the now and FEEL rich while also being a great steward to my money and saving and investing for long-term wealth later.
What about you? What’s your version of financial success that’s a combination of rich (the money you spend now) and wealthy (the money you keep and have later)?
Wishing you your version of success!
