The #1 mindset that stalls action and costs business owner sales
Wanting to know the answers in advance of taking action.
It’s like that friend who wants to know if someone they’re about to go on a date with for the first time is “the one”.
And cancels said date, deciding it’s not worth their time to go unless they can tell in advance it’s their soulmate.
I think you and I both know that’s not the easiest way to meet and connect with your person, in fact, it’s a good way to miss meeting your match altogether.
From the outside looking in, as the friend, you can see, this has more to do with trying to avoid getting hurt and rejected than the date itself.
The same is true in business and connecting with paying “soulmate” clients.
Wanting to know the answers in advance of taking action is a sneaky way business owners tell themselves they’re taking action (you know by researching, downloading another freebie, or deciding you need to talk it out and poll for opinions) and sabotage their sales and income (and dating!) results.
It’s common to want to self-protect and want to avoid rejection (hello, hiding in plain sight) by trying to know in advance of putting yourself out there, connecting, and selling if someone is going to buy.
This is one of the most common ways I notice fear and worry about getting things wrong and not being good enough to show up and stall money-making results.
I like to remind my clients it’s normal to want to protect yourself by knowing the answer in advance of taking action, but then you also protect yourself from clarity and results (which are found on the other side of taking action!).
Two things I want to invite you to think about when it comes to your business:
All business is a test.
No one in business knows the answers in advance.
If you’re waiting for an answer before you take action, you’ll be waiting and guessing for a long time. Because when all of your action-taking is focused on finding the answer in advance you stall money-making and momentum.
The truth is, clarity and “soul aligned” answers are often found on the other side of taking action...meaning in advance of knowing all the answers.
Instead, I invite you to think about treating your business like a scientist who’s running tests.
Can you make a hypothesis (your best educated guess for what you believe to be true), and then run a test, collect the data, and use that to inform your answers for your next action step?
Remember a true test run by a scientist assumes they don’t know the answers in advance (it’s why so many efforts are made to run blind studies and experiments to avoid human bias).
Permission to not know all the answers in advance and to see that as evidence of doing it RIGHT because clarity and the most informed answers come from the data and information you get on the other side of your next action step.
Something I’ve seen to be true over and over again through my clients is when you show up and allow yourself to run at the best action you know how before you know the answers, you collect data faster, which helps you get clear on the next best action to bring in those next-level income and impact results.
This is how you’ll get more clarity (those answers) for your next action step, in advance of knowing all the answers, that leads to those next-level income results!
Wishing you your version of success.
