We’re heading into the most wonderful AND confusing time of year for many business owners.
Last week, we had BOTH the biggest selling and buying days of the year in the same week most people want to slow down, be with loved ones, travel, and generally check out and eat a bunch of good food.
This tug-of-war only continues into December and the New Year, and it can be tough to know the right move. Is it time for a sales sprint or to slow down?!
I’m supporting clients to take very different paths for different reasons. In December, I have clients who take the whole month or weeks fully off to go on vacation and chill and other clients who lean into closing deals for 2024.
Which can be confusing if you’re trying to figure out the “right” way to do business this time of year.
So, here are a few things I know to be true after 7.5 years in business supporting clients to collective multi-millions for profiting AND enjoying the holiday season:
both a sprint or a slow down can serve your business long-term. There are payoffs for each decision.
A sprint can help you get a sales boost to reach your revenue goals or start out 2024 with clients and income ready to go.
A slow down recharges your batteries and gives you time to focus on priorities outside your business. IMO, taking time off is ALSO a money-generating activity. This is often where new downloads, innovative ideas, and the energy to market, sell, and serve powerfully in the new year come from.
choosing to sprint or slow down is a decision best made from a neutral mind that’s able to clearly discern what you and your business need.
If you’re in scarcity because you haven’t hit your money goals, want to buy gifts, or feel discouraged, not good enough, or fried from overworking, you’re more likely to make a fear-based or resentment-based choice.
both a sprint and a slow down will serve you and your business best when they’re 1) intentional decisions 2) have a plan and 3) have prep to back them up.
If you’re taking a sales sprint through the end of the year, do yourself a favor and take a moment to strategically plan so you get the most from your efforts. This way you can celebrate as you slide into the new year instead of grumbling that you “wasted” your holiday time working.
If you’re taking time to unplug, travel, be with loved ones, and be merry and bright, your business will also thank you when the ball drops if you’ve planned and prepped for how your business will continue to run while you’re away.
whether you’re working or not over the holiday season, ideally your business is still marketing and working for you.
Because December’s marketing is what also sets you up for a profitable January and record-breaking Q1.
So, whether you’re sprinting or slowing down, remember BOTH can be the “right” money-making decision and serve you, and you do your business and bank account a big favor when you take the time to make an intentional decision AND strategically plan and prep.
Wishing you your version of success, and an intentional and profitable close to the year as we head into December!
