When I started my business 7.5 years ago, my goal was to make $60k a year so I could quit my 9-5 and my side gigs I juggled to pay my NYC rent and invest back into my business.
Given the number of jobs I had, you can probably put together I had a belief that more work = more money.
This carried over into my business.
I didn’t really believe I could make enough from 1:1 alone. And, given my mindset and beliefs, I figured what so many entrepreneurs do, if I just create enough offers at affordable price points, I’ll be able to reach my revenue goals.
So, I had my 1:1 offer. But, I also made a course. Then, I launched a membership (bless my newbie heart for not understanding this model and the volume that’s required for this to pay you well). Then, if that wasn’t enough, I created a group program.
I was so proud of myself and all the work I was doing. It was also exciting because all of those offers DID sell, and they DID make me money. Just not very much
I’m a quick study, and I shut every offer down except my 1:1.
Because it didn’t take me (too) long to learn, more offers and more work didn’t actually add up to more sales and money.
The more I tried to sell, the more I SUBTRACTED focus, quality, brand recognition, and the ability to get KNOWN for being the best person to hire for one specific solution.
I’m not an overnight success story, but my business grew pretty quickly after I stopped trying to sell multiple offers and went all in on 1:1 . . . and, it hasn’t stopped scaling since.
1:1 might not be your thing, that’s not the point here at all.
What is the point, and what I can tell you now, after being booked out for 4.5 years going on 5 making $350k+ a year with plenty of room to scale is the quickest path to your first six figures (and maybe your next few after that) is picking one core offer and sticking to mastering selling and delivering the sh*t out of this before you stack on other offers to scale.
As we head into the end of the year and start planning for 2024, a reminder that sure, sometimes more *is* more, and more often than not, your fast past to your first and next six-figures is found in doing less, better and allowing that to pay you more.
