If you’ve been hanging out with me for a little while, you probably already know I’m all about bringing the social to social media and relationships to business.

Connection is one of my top personal and business values. I also happen to believe it’s one of the secrets, if there was such a thing, to creating a sustainable, successful business.

So, you can imagine how psyched I was when I stumbled across Anna Kochetkova and her business, Good Social Only. Anna is all about shifting the way we’re using social media to help businesses that are making a difference.

Anna’s in Australia, and I’m in Manhattan, so I was lucky enough to catch her for an early-morning/late-night conversation all about social, the realities of business (it’s still work, y’all), and ads.

What followed was a refreshing look at social media, the truth about numbers, the power of business goals and testing, and a reminder that social media isn’t a solution, it’s a tool.

“I think there’s too much focus on social being the solution for everything.”

For those of you who don’t know Anna, she’s a social media strategist who works with service-based women entrepreneurs to help them grow and scale their businesses using Facebook ads and social media. 

She’s one of the few experts who is advocating for the smarter use of social media and other digital tools. Her focus is on real success strategies and deliberate use of social media. 

Talking with Anna felt like it loosened the pressure valve social media can sometimes have on us as entrepreneurs. As she said, “With social, if I feel like I’m getting tired of it, there’s an off button. Super easy…”
